All you need is your gear to get out there and have a good time, but having an optimal set up in your car for kiting will make the experience that much smoother.

1. Board

So you'll bring your board however it fits in your car. I have a hatchback so it just slides right down the side of my trunk.

2. Kite Bag with kite, pump, and bar.

Most kite bags are designed with designated straps, clips or pouches to keep your pump and bar together. A full kite bag list including sunscreen and water can be found here.

3. Bucket

I like this laundry bucket from Ikea. It's cheap and big enough to fit all the wet things after kiting: my wetsuit, booties, harness and bar. On the way to kiting I keep my wetsuit, booties and harness in it along with...

4. A Towel

I like these quick drying towels from ___. If the wind is good two days in a row I'll just grab all my gear from where it's drying on the porch, so I like having a towel that is dry in time for me to use again for my next session.

6. Changing Hoodie

If you kite in colder places, you'll want to get out of your wet suit before driving home or going to grab food. A changing hoodie is so much more convenient than the towel wrap method, and saves from the accidental towel drop.

7. Water Pump

If you don't kite a places with a sand shower, it's convenient to keep a water pump in your trunk. Your gear will last longer if you rinse that salt water off after each session. And let's face it, if you don't do it before you leave the beach, you'll be too busy later.

8. Changing Mat

Good wind spots are in odd places, wetsuits and booties are hard to get on/off, and rough roads hurt. Bring a mat next time you kite, you'll thank me.

9. Clothes for After

These will obviously depend on where you kite. I keep a long sleeve SPF rashguard, shorts, t-shirt, hoodie, and sandals.
